I have been thinking about opening a home daycare in ohio. How can i get more information on what I need to do to get my home ready and open a home daycare? Does anyone know where i can find contact information. If anyone in ohio owns a home daycare, how hard is it to open one?

Your local human resources should have a book of all the requirements you’ll need. Most states have similiar requirements. It’s long and costs a lot of money. I don’t have one, but I looked into it and considered it for awhile. You have to have a certain amount of space, have a fenced in yard, have another employee ready to take over for you if you get sick, and tons of forms for parents to sign, etc. Good luck.

I am in the process of getting my license right now for a home daycare. I live in Massachusetts so your state might be a little different, but this is what I have to do:
    -CPR/First Aid certified
-35 sq. ft. indoor space per child
-75 sq. ft. outdoor space per child
    -no peeling or chipping paint
    -3 letters or referrals
    -criminal background check
    -$100.00 license fee with application
    -sample schedule and curriculum
-visit from licensor to the home
-childproof all areas accessible to children

I started by going to my state’s government website: Mass.gov. You probably have something similar for Ohio.

    Good luck!
