Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Jenna Dewan, Jessica Alba, and Ashley Benson. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.

Look 1: Jenna Dewan’s Floral Denim Look

Jenna Dewan pushed the fashion envelope by sporting a pair of floral jeans while out and about shopping this week. For a while now, I have been noticing patterned pants like hers popping up in stores and have wondered how I could go about wearing a pair. I always ultimately decided that they were a bit too busy for my taste.

Yet I may have to change my mind – here, Jenna demonstrates that by keeping the rest of the look simple, fresh, and neutral, these jeans can make the perfect eye-catching statement. Her look also reminds us that spring is approaching!

To start, choose a pair of floral jeans with a print that is not too bright, but rather neutral and muted. For example, these jeans from Forever 21 have a very subtle rose print in shades of creme and light gray, so the pattern is not overwhelming. Pair them with a casual gray sweater and flats — these ballet slippers are light pink which adds a subtle splash of color to the look. Top off the ensemble with a straw fedora hat and light pink bag with chain strap detailing like Jenna’s.

Look 2: Jessica Alba’s Ladylike Glam Look

In some loose black trousers, a fur-trim collared coat, and super high pumps, Jessica Alba looked quite ladylike while stepping out on the town in NYC. Her look mixes practicality (a warm winter coat and hat) with femininity and glamour (the fur accent, the beret style of the hat), and her beautiful glowing cheeks add further appeal!

Jessica’s outfit is a bit dressy, so it would be perfect for any occasion that requires a bit of dressing up or embracing your girly side. Black pleated trousers are a great investment because you can wear them casually with a simple t-shirt and flats, professionally with a blazer for your job or internship, or to a dressy occasion, as we’re demonstrating here. The pants become more feminine when paired with a sheer ruffled blouse and tall pumps. Add a coat with a fur-trim collar for a touch of glamour, and finish with a beret. (This one has subtle sparkles.)

Look 3: Ashley Benson’s Hip Lace-Up Boots Outfit

Pretty Little Liar Ashley Benson looked uber cool recently in some statement-making lace-up knee-high boots. While the majority of her look is simple and super easy to put together (i.e., leggings and a long white t-shirt), the rest of the details of her look make this outfit so hip. Her gray knee-high socks make her combat boots a little less intense, and a long gray open-front sweater ties everything together.

Combat boots have been so popular over the last year, but personally I’ve never dared to try knee-high ones. However, Ashley shows us that these boots don’t have to look overpowering by toning them down with simple colors and casual basics, like the open front cardigan. My favorite outfit additions are the tall socks, though: warm and stylish!

When you think of a fashion icon from the past, who is the first person that comes to mind? Marilyn Monroe? Audrey Hepburn? Edie Sedgwick, perhaps? While all three of those women have enviable styles that we absolutely love, there are so many other fashionable women that have graced the history pages.

This biweekly column focuses on just that: unexpected and out-of-the-box fashion icons from the past. We feature women who have not only made an impact, but also have distinct signature styles that we can still draw inspiration from today.

This week, we’ll be taking a closer look at poet, novelist and short story writer Sylvia Plath, who not only penned some amazing work, but also possessed an inspiring sense of style. Read on to learn more about Sylvia’s life and unique style, then check out some outfit ideas to help you channel her look for yourself:

5 Facts About Sylvia Plath

• Sylvia Plath was born on October 27, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts. She began writing at a very young age and had her first poem published at age eight.
• Sylvia attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she worked as an editor for her school’s literary magazine. When she was still in college, Sylvia was given the opportunity to travel to New York City for a month and guest edit Mademoiselle magazine. Her experience didn’t live up to her expectations and later served as an inspiration for her novel The Bell Jar.
• After graduating from Smith in 1955, Sylvia won a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Cambridge University in England, where she met fellow poet Ted Hughes. The two married in 1956, but had an infamously tumultuous relationship.
• Sylvia had been writing poems and short stories for years and her first book of poetry — The Colossus – was published in 1960. The Bell Jar, her first and only novel, was released three years later.
• After suffering from depression for many years, Sylvia tragically took her own life on February 11, 1963 — she was just 30 years old. Her second collection of poetry, Ariel, was released two years after her death. Sylvia was also posthumously awarded a Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1982.

• Comfort is key. Sylvia’s wardrobe was filled with casual items that were both comfortable and stylish. She wore pieces like tees, skirts and flats to create a simple, yet chic look.
• Clean lines. Sylvia seemed to steer away from embellished and ornate clothing and instead opted to wear streamlined, no-frills pieces. To channel Sylvia’s style for yourself, look for items that are simple and classic, but try finding fun colors and prints to make them fashion-forward.
• Boy Meets Girl. Sylvia always knew how to incorporate both masculine and feminine pieces into her wardrobe. For example, if she wore a girly blouse and skirt, she would add a more masculine jacket for balance.

Finish the look with a structured bag, floral flats, and a pretty cocktail ring.

Add on some opaque tights and a grey blazer for a pulled-together look. Finish with a pair of studded loafers and a simple bag.

Because the Grammys honor the best in music — an industry that celebrates individuality, creativity, and personal expression — their loose dress code allows the artists to express themselves through fashion. Pair this standout piece with a black top and some velvet pants for textural dimension. Finish the look with a pair of leopard loafers, some cool rings, and a black tote.

Look 1: Amber Heard’s Retro-Chic Look

Actress Amber Heard looked chic in a retro-inspired outfit, adding to her screen-siren image. She wore some torn-up boyfriend jeans, a lace shirt, and a beige trench coat. She added to her look with neutral colored, studded loafers, and some retro sunglasses.

This look combines aspects that are forever classic, like the trench coat, with newer, trendier items like the studded loafers, to create a look that is completely individual… and easy to recreate yourself!

A classic beige trench coat makes a fab investment piece, as it will always be in style. The trench dresses up the cool, torn-up boyfriend jeans, which are also feminized with the addition of a lace top.

I absolutely loved Amber’s studded Jeffrey Campbell loafers, however the Steve Madden pair above are a great dupe for the JC’s and are more budget-friendly. To keep with the retro feel of the look, rock some clubmaster sunglasses, and keep all the other accessories simple.

Look 2: Anne V’s Cool Night Out

Victoria’s Secret Angel Anne V was spotted out to dinner with her swoon-worthy boyfriend Adam Levine of Maroon 5, looking modelesque in a sheer maxi skirt with partial lining, a neutral-colored tank top, and a leather rocker jacket.

With this look, Anne found a way to show a little leg in the winter: These partially-lined maxi skirts are a burgeoning trend that I’ve been dying to try out, and can now do so after being inspired by Anne’s look.

This fabulous maxi skirt features a heart print for an eye-catching aesthetic that’s similar to Anne’s. A plain, neutral tank top is all you need to pair with the skirt — a black or white shirt would work, too. This sequin clutch brings out the color of this particular tank, and complements the tribal-inspired tooth necklace. Add a leather or leatherette jacket and flat buckled ankle boots for a rocker vibe.

Look 3: Kate Bosworth’s Urbanized Western Look

Kate Bosworth is one of the ultimate trendsetters out there, partially because of her ability to mix and match styles to create an innovative look.

This week, she wore attention-grabbing black buckled boots with gold studs, paired with black skinny jeans and a loose striped shirt.  Her sunset-colored shirt works well with her western-inspired boots, but still looks urban and modern thanks to her square-shaped sunglasses, structured handbag, and gold bracelets.

To recreate Kate’s look, choose a striped top with a loose fit and unique color scheme. A shirt like this will play well with the flat, buckled ankle booties, which are one of the focal points of the look. Gold-toned bracelets accentuate the gold studs and buckles on the boots, while square sunglasses and a structured handbag keep the look sleek and stylish.

Look 1: Kim Kardashian’s Chic Cold-Weather Look

Kim Kardashian may be going through quite an ordeal thanks to her very public divorce from husband Kris Humphries, but she has not lost her sense of style during the proceedings. Kim looked chic this week in an olive green military-inspired coat, worn over a gray shirt and black skinny pants, with leather over-the-knee boots, a chunky black scarf, and some oversized black aviators. I love how she kept the color scheme neutral, allowing the coat and oversized scarf to really pop.

Black jeggings and a gray t-shirt form the simple (and super comfy!) base for this look. The rest of the pieces, like leather over-the-knee boots, a chunky black infinity scarf, and some black aviator sunglasses boost the look, making it extra chic. But the real “wow” factor comes from adding a military-inspired jacket – this olive green cape coat has toggle closures similar to Kim’s, and is a stylish way to keep warm.

Look 2: Sarah Jessica Parker’s Flowy Fall Ensemble

We all know Sarah Jessica Parker loves fashion, and as such, she is constantly experimenting with trends. While traveling recently, she wore a flowy maxi skirt with a creme knit sweater, along with some ankle boots and a structured handbag worn cross-body.

SJP’s look is an awesome example of a way to wear a summer maxi skirt in cool weather – just pair it with a cozy knit and your favorite pair of boots, and you have a perfectly fall-appropriate outfit.

Look 3: Clémence Poésy’s Unique Hues

Actress Clémence Poésy is an underground style star who knows how to harness the French aesthetic when it comes to dressing. She was recently photographed rocking some softly burnt-out, rose-colored skinny jeans and an oversize cable knit sweater, along with some trendy desert booties.

While many of us tend to wear neutrals and dark hues in fall, Clémence proves that you can still rock color and look fabulous while doing so. By wearing fall-perfect pieces in bold hues, Clémence looks seasonally appropriate while making a serious statement.

To get Clémence’s bold fall look, start with skinny jeans in a rose hue. These jeans from Topshop are tie dyed, so they have the same burnt out look as Clémence’s. Adding a chunky sweater in a brown or dark yellow color helps give the pants a hip, almost vintage vibe and keeps them from looking too ’80s. Lace-up desert booties and a structured bag in the same color scheme complete the outfit.

Keep warm with a white jacket and some grey socks, and accessorize with some fun polka dot ballet flats and a silver watch.

Between the changing leaves and the crisp, cool air, fall brings a uniquely comforting feeling. For that reason, I chose a comfy charcoal grey cable knit sweater to pair with some easy denim jeans. A nice coat will add an extra layer of warmth to the look. Leopard loafers are a huge trend right now and are well in line with the spirit of Fall. Add on some gold accessories like this spike necklace and leaf ring to accessorize the look.

Mostly D’s: Winter

Winter is all about being cozy and bundled up, and a printed sweater dress is a perfect way to capture that feeling. Don a pair (or two!) of grey cable knit tights and a navy peacoat to brave the cold weather. A burgundy bag, rhinestone watch, and pair of buckled boots finish the ensemble.

Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio managed to look both colorful and chic this week, wearing skinny red ankle jeans with a white button-down tucked in casually. She kept her look classic by adding simple flats and a quilted chain-link bag, but modernized it with plastic sunglasses and a bright beaded necklace.

I love this outfit because it has a great balance of styles – the bright red jeans are eye-catching and modern, but the rest of the look is toned-down and chic. This pairing helps the pants look cool rather than crazy.

To recreate Alessandra’s look, start with red jeans. These Rich & Skinny red ankle jeans evoke a Parisian chic vibe, especially when paired with a white button-down shirt. Casually tuck the shirt in and keep the sleeves rolled up for an effortless look. Finally, use accessories – like a brown quilted chain-link bag and bib necklace – to keep the look chic.

Look 2: Blake Lively is a Halloween Hottie

Blake Lively looked a lot like her Gossip Girl character Serena while hailing a taxi cab in the city this past week, pumpkin in tow. She wore dark skinny jeans with zipper pockets, an off-white top under a black blazer, a cloth hat, and some wild leopard-print wedges. (Side note: We love her hair wild and curly like that!)

Dark skinny jeans and a black blazer are simple pieces that can be worn a million different ways, making them excellent additions to your closet. An off-white top (this one has light beading on the front for a more dressed-up vibe) makes a simple canvas for bold accessories, like leopard print wedge heels, a large black quilted bag, and a cloth hat.

Look 3: Selena Gomez’s Lovely Layers

Selena Gomez bundled up in several layers this week, but still managed to look stylish. She wore black leggings with black lace-up boots, a jean jacket, a maroon colored chunky sweater over top, and a big beige scarf over that. By keeping the bottom half of her look slim-fitting, Selena prevents the many layers from overwhelming her body. Also, I am loving her colored mirrored aviators, which add a cool, downtown vibe.

Leggings are a comfy choice for your bottom half, and with a long sweater in a deep red or plum, you don’t have to worry about your legs or behind being too exposed. A jean jacket adds an unexpected and hip contrast to the sweater, and a scarf over top will keep you super warm. Since the outfit is already so multidimensional, keep accessories simple – some colorful aviator sunglasses are all you need.

Oxfords are a shoe that was once reserved for men; however the popularity of menswear-inspired fashion made them into a popular trend for women as well. What I love about these shoes is that they can be worn with an androgynous look, however they also look great paired with super girly pieces. For this look, I found a pair of floral printed oxfords that showcase the versatility of this shoe style. A striped tank is a classic staple, yet pairing it with some leather shorts and a gold swing jacket gives it a current feel. Accessorize the look with some sheer black tights, a cool lightening ring, and a menswear-inspired watch.

Sneakers are without a doubt the most practical and comfortable shoe style for a busy college girl on the go. Nicky Hilton totally inspired me this week – her look is right on time as we shift into fall mode. Her striped fair isle sweater is an amazing find — it mixes two different prints seamlessly, which creates a new twist on two classic looks. The sweater is perfect for fall, and, when paired with cuffed denim shorts, works during this time of the year when the weather is still warm. Paired with some cool, classic Wayfarers and some brown lace-up booties, along with a simple handbag, Nicky’s look is ideal for the back-to-school season.

Nicky’s exact sweater can be found at Madewell, although if you’re on a budget, American Eagle has some similar fair isle 3/4 inch sleeve sweaters for less. Pair the sweater with some dark wash cuffed denim shorts, and some brown lace-up booties. If a heeled bootie is not the most practical option for your day, you could swap in some oxford-style loafers for a similarly structured look. Doesn’t this look make you excited for fall? This is another example of an outfit perfect for the summer-to-fall transition. By pairing a floral dress with some knee-high boots, Rosie brings her summer frock into the new season. The colors are still light and fun, and the oversize sunglasses add a glam touch.

Lauren Conrad was out celebrating the birthday of a friend, showing off a trendy outfit for a night out on the town. She wore leather shorts with a sheer, oversized chiffon blouse and strappy sandals with a wooden heel from her Kohls line. She also carried one of her favorite Chanel quilted bags.

I absolutely love Lauren’s look – I adore the way the delicate blouse looks against the tough leather shorts, plus I think this is a cool way to switch it up and wear something other than a dress or jeans for a night out.

Leather shorts in a classic shape (rather than a tight, short shape) are a good investment because they are dressier and more appropriate for a variety of situations than your typical denim cutoffs, yet the material will make any outfit instantly trendy. Next, add a sheer blouse – Forever 21 has created this sheer striped blouse with playful cut-outs on the shoulders. Keep the accessories super simple since the outfit is already bold — just add a quilted cross-body bag and some strappy sandals.
